College Promotional Design Project
Overview:
This project involved creating a promotional flyer for the Noir Exhibition at the Black & White Gallery, celebrating the visual and narrative style of classic film noir. The design sought to immerse viewers in a world of suspense, mystery, and chiaroscuro aesthetics.
Objective:
Design a visually striking and atmospheric flyer that captures the mood of noir cinema. The flyer needed to draw viewers into the exhibition’s themes—highlighting the tension, drama, and duality of light and shadow that define the genre.
My Role: Visual Direction & Layout Design | Typography & Image Selection
I was responsible for the entire creative process, from ideation to execution—ensuring every visual choice reinforced the noir narrative.
Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop | Adobe InDesign
Design Approach:
The flyer utilizes high-contrast black and white imagery to evoke the chiaroscuro lighting central to noir film. Silhouettes and shadow play add visual intrigue and depth, while the typography references vintage film titles, grounding the design in mid-20th-century cinema aesthetics. Every element was chosen to build a cohesive mood—inviting the audience into a story filled with tension, style, and ambiguity.
